ANSYS Multiphysics have both modules. Hope I cleared your doubt.In fact, what are you reffering is about interface, and not solvers in fact. In ansys v15 the apdl has been integrated with workbench. And for advanced persons its like a feast.
Some of important advantage of using Workbench are: mesh more easy, automatic contact, and so on.Depends very much what models you will study. Other reason because I prefer CLASSIC or MAPDL version is because allow possibility to control everithing very easy: element type, materials, contacts, loads, constraints, etc.On the other side, now ANSYS WORKBENCH incorporate by each superior version all capabilities from MAPDL. ANSYS WORKBENCH represent the new interface of ANSYS for users.From my point of view, because when I start to use/learn ANSYS it was ANSYS CLASSIC more familiar, I prefer him.
